Quality above all else: this is Callipo’s central, unalterable mission. For this reason, in order to fully safeguard consumers, the company has always provided the most important certifications of guarantee for its products, which are made with simple, genuine ingredients as per the ancient artisanal tradition.

In particular, Callipo:

  • in 1926, was awarded the “Royal Establishment Patent” by the Royal Household.
  • in 1994, was granted the authorization by the Food and Drug Administration to export to the United States.
  • in January 1996, well ahead of the time frame established by the EEC, implemented the HACCP self-checking system for monitoring and managing the critical points of the production chain.
  • in May 1996, during the CIBUS International Food Exhibition in Parma, Callipo Tuna Fillets in glass jars were awarded the prestigious A.I.D.A. Oscar for their “attractiveness, creativity and imagination”.
  • in February 1997, Callipo was one of the first companies in the sector to achieve the prestigious  Quality System Certification as per ISO 9002 regulations;
  • In October 2001, it was granted the first Product Certification in the tuna conservation sector by DNV (Det Norske Veritas);
  • In November 2003, the quality system (ISO 9002) was adapted to meet the new Vision 2000 regulation, which is even more oriented towards customer satisfaction;
  • In December 2003, it was the first company in Italy to obtain the Customs Reliability Certificate issued by the Customs Agency, which testifies to the efficiency, fairness, and consistency that characterize the company’s business management both in Italy and abroad;
  • In March 2005, the company obtained two new, important quality certifications, which are recognized on an international basis: the “BRC” Standard e lo “IFS” Standard. These are technical standards which set out safety and quality requirements, as well as the operating criteria that food companies must meet so as to fulfil the obligations set out by current regulations and consumer protection requirements.
  • In May 2006, Unioncamere granted the company a prestigious “Long Running and Successful Enterprise” recognition. This award was attributed to four Italian companies, one in each economic sector (agriculture, industry, craftsmanship, trade and services), which were characterized primarily by solid results and generational continuity in their business management.
  • In March 2009, it was granted Kosher Certification, a certification of quality which is now recognized throughout the world, by Services International Kosher Supervision Ltd. In order for a product to be certified Kosher, it must satisfy rigorous quality standards, and all of its production and packaging procedures, as well as the individual ingredients, must comply with rigorous Kasheruth laws.
  • In July 2009, Callipo was awarded a prize by Confindustria for surpassing 50 years of membership.
  • In June 2010, Bioagricert granted the company a Certificate of Conformity for its tuna in organic extra virgin olive oil.
  • In June 2012, it obtained certification ISO 14001:2004 for its responsible management of the environmental aspects connected with its production cycles.
  • In August 2012, the company was awarded the “Azienda Faro” Award by the Chamber of Commerce of Vibo Valentia, in recognition of its status as “a consolidated, innovative entrepreneurial success, which strategically benefits the territory in terms of development and competitiveness.”
  • In January 2013, on the occasion of its 100 year anniversary celebrations, the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, bestowed an official plaque upon the Company.
